Hello Blog!
The beginning
In my time working on personal projects, I have collected a fair amount of notes that I thought could make for interesting blogs. However, I didn’t really have anywhere to put them… until now!
Note
I do something similar for notes that I create while working at Rare. Anything interesting gets posted as a dev log on a Teams channel. Not the most visible of places but certainly useful to link to when people are coming up against the same problems.
I have made this site to host any blogs that I may write and want to share with the general public. The nice thing about having my own site, however, is that I can put anything on it. So, in addition to blogs, I have also made this a place to post information about my portfolio and the talks that I have given. So, essentially this site will be used for anything most people would use LinkedIn and Twitter for.
What’s with the name?
“Clever Programming Pun” is a result of the classic “working title that became the actual title”. There seems to be two ways of naming a personal site:
- Just use your name
- Use a programming phrase/term/meme
I opted for option 2 when I was making the site, but I didn’t have any good ideas.
Tip
Naming things truly is one of the hardest things in software engineering
Not wanting to let naming the website stop me from progressing, I just gave it the working title of “Clever Programming Pun”, because in essence that is what I ultimately wanted. And it has stayed there ever since, and I quite like it now. It is a bit meta, and also, I like the fact that the initialism of “Clever Programming Pun” is CPP. This blog will likely contain a decent amount of C++, so I think this is fitting.
So, what now?
Now, I will hopefully start to put out blogs about things, and hopefully those blogs are somewhat interesting.
Note
The notes I made while creating this site might be interesting to some people considering the fact that I have made some contributions to the underlying theme that powers this website… maybe
Even if they are not, it’ll be nice for me to transform my notes into well thought-out articles that I can link people to. Similarly, if I start any new projects, or give any new talks, I will pop them up here.
