Field Trip
With last year’s field trip being so good, I decided to take part in this year’s field trip too.
This year we visited Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, and had a walk around Dinosaur Ridge.
From afar,

this sight brought back some memories of playing Horizon Zero Dawn, and indeed Horizon Zero Dawn does include the Red Rocks. There is a video here Metal World: Red Rocks (Real Locations of Horizon Zero Dawn) that talks about it.
Many famous bands like The Beatles and U2 have played at the amphitheatre. The stage is nestled between two massive… well… red rocks. The seating is then carved into the stone alongside the two rocks. The scale of the place is huge!

This was by far the hottest day of the entire week. It was 35°C. Hence the hat and a huge amount of Factor 50.

This is a group photo of everyone that went. It was a super cool time!
We left the Red Rocks to go and have lunch at the Dinosaur Ridge Visitor Centre where we saw some cool fossils.

The T-Rex skull is just a cast… The real skulls are worth way too much to be left out in the open in a museum for anyone to touch.
Then after lunch we took a walk up the Dinosaur Ridge. This is basically a cordoned-off road which has a load of visible fossils embedded into the rock that goes along the road. It was pretty cool. However, walking in 35°C heat when you are over a mile above sea level was sweaty business!

All in all, it was a great field trip, just like last year. If I was to go back to CppCon, I would definitely make a point of going on the field trip again!
